As you may already know, on January 12, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit Haiti. Some people say that this catastrophe may be a direct result from the Haitian people being cursed. Despite of the causes, the people of Haiti need desperate help. Now is the time to extend your hand and show them what you believe in.

You can too join recovery efforts mobilizing around the world to assist earthquake victims. Your donation will help disaster victims get back on their feet and their communities. As of Monday, according to a tally conducted by The Chronicle of Philanthropy, contributions to Haiti have reached $528-million. This includes the $66-million raised by Hope for Haiti telethon last Friday, $29-million by the Red Cross text message $10 gift campaign, The Doctors Without Borders U.S. operations raised $36-million and $8.3-million by The Salvation Army. Interesting enough, the University of Miami had received more than $3.9-million as of Tuesday. The university runs a community health program and other projects in Haiti. More than 100 of its staff are in Haiti assisting with the efforts.
Despite the outpour of donations, the need is still great since huge amount of people need to be fed daily. People need to be rescued from under the rubble and reconstruction effort have to begin.
